Glenveagh National Park

Saturday, October 15, 2016

An overcast Saturday morning started with a hardy Irish breakfast and I was ready for the 90 minute drive to Glenveagh National Park. This was an easy drive with hardly any traffic as I drove a little inland from Dungloe. I parked at the visitor center and set off on my hike top the Glenvagh Castle. This was an easy walk that did not take much more than an hour with some great wide-open views of Loch Bheatha.

Glenveagh Castle and Gardens

After spending some time in the gardens - I headed into the castle for a tour. Every building in Ireland must seem old to Americans.

The Road Back to Dungloe

It was late afternoon and I was in no hurry to get back to the Inn - so I took my time and drove past the Inn to get some view of the coastal area. I stopped several times to admire the beauty and figure out where my GPS had taken me. As I was getting hungry I decided to head back to Dungloe where I picked up a few groceries and had an early dinner at a local pub where I watched some football/soccer.

Dungloe Sunset

After I got back to the B&B I decided to take an evening walk. The sunset stopped me in my tracks and was a great way to end my day. This was the view less than a block away from the B&B. After my walk I sat by a warm fire before heading off to bed.
